I’m a Boy Mom

The first annual Boy Mom Blog Hop…"an opportunity for any and all mothers of boys to introduce themselves to each other and connect in this amazing community." Sounds amazing, right? I thought so, too, and I just had to jump in.

Mothers of Boys

If you're here from the Hop, welcome! Thanks for stopping by. I hope I can offer you a little encouragement. If you're a regular, I hope you'll join in the community~ leave a comment, visit some of the other Boy Mom blogs, and let's get to know one another.

I'm Connie.

Here at the daisyhead, I blog about mothering and homeschooling. When I start something, I like to read everything I can find on the subject. I like to really get lots of information so that I know how I want to proceed with my new venture. Then I like to share what I have learned and add my life experience to the mix. I have been gathering and sharing information about mothering, pregnancy, breastfeeding, cloth diapers, and home education for the past 18 years. (Wow. That makes me sound really old!) God has really impressed upon me to reach back to the women who are a few steps behind me to help them along the journey.

I am 42 years old. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 19 years. (How did that happen?!) We have five children who I have always homeschooled.

I am the mom of two boys. Two boys who are quickly growing into young men.

It is hard work being the mom of boys, especially when the boys in question are spirited boys. But that's also what makes having boys fun! My home has always been filled with the sound of drumming and mouth noises akin to explosions. I don't know what I'll ever do without those sounds spilling out of the windows.

We have benefited from our studies that were prompted by these boys.
Knights. Battles.
Insects. Legos.
Computers.
Snakes. Frogs.
Robots.
Climbing. Leaping.
Wrestling.
Guitars. Drums.

My third child (the second boy) was born when my oldest boy was two and a half months shy of four years old. Those boys with a sweet girl sandwiched in the middle have always been close companions. Now that they are all three teenagers, we often hear stories of fun and mischief that they remember from when they were little. The funniest stories are the ones where Judah (the oldest) would trick Sean into sneaking out of bed at night to fill his pockets with candy for a midnight snack. Of course, they were usually caught.

These are the memories that will become bedtime stories for their own children.

It is truly a amazing to watch God mold these boys into men. I am truly blessed.

I can't wait to visit the other Boy Mom blogs and get to know some other Boy Moms. I'd love it if you'd hang around. Let's chat and get to know one another. You can also find me chatting and being silly on Twitter and Facebook.

  1. I'm stopping by from the blog hop! I can't wait to watch my son grow into a young man! It looks like you've done a great job!

  2. Thank you, Barbara! It truly is bizarre to look up to this man in front of me and realize he is my baby!

Thanks for stopping by. I can't wait to go visit all the other blogs!

  3. Hi Connie! Just stopping by from the MOB hop! Great stories. I'm sure my own kids have a few, although we are only just now starting to hear some from our oldest daughter (23). Having teens around is a different experience, isn't it? We love it but WOW those kids can come up with some crazy stuff! It's not unusual for us to wake up at 2am to the smell of pizza or cookies, because they cook at night! (More stories for their own kids I'm sure.) It's nice to meet you!

  4. Oh gosh, I know it will happen one day, but I can't imagine having 3 teenagers! Your boys look like a lot of fun 🙂

  5. Hi Connie, I found you from the MOB BlogHop and I am now one of your new followers. I two have 3 children all boys and I homeschool as well. I look forward to getting to know you and your family through your blog. If you get a chance, hop on over to my blog and check it out…

  6. What wonderful guys! I admire that you have been homeschooling for so long. What a wonderful opportunity to watch your children grow.

  7. You're not alone in feeling old. Visiting these sites and seeing all these young moms and their boys is great for all the memories it brings flooding back. Likewise, it's good to meet another "in my season" mom. I'm 41 and mom to two teens and a tween (still don't even like the sound of that!) But it's where God has me now. Homeschooling, training, raising up genuine gentlemen. And all in the midst of those mouth explosion sounds. Can't get weirder, huh? Good to meet you.

  8. It's nice to meet you, too, Dawn! I must go visit your blog! It sounds like you have some great stories to share!

  9. JDaniel4's Mom~ Thank you. I consider it such a privilege to educate my children. It has totally been God's grace that has carried us through. Thanks for visiting!

  10. A Complete Thought~ I am totally with you! It starts to really make you feel old visiting all these mom blogs whose boys are all so little. I didn't realize how old I had gotten until now! ;o)
I am also happy to meet someone else who is in "my season." Of course, I'm still in the other season, too~ my youngest is just 4yo!

Thanks for visiting! I can't wait to read more of your blog!
